Embark.com (formerly CollegeEdge) has launched their Education and Career Opportunities System (ECOS), the company’s second generation of career and college planning tools for students, counselors and administrators. The expanded system (formerly the Career and College Guidance System) is designed to help students plan for the future while allowing counselors and administrators to manage their students’ goals and action plans in a customized, interactive environment.

Among the new features is an Online Mentor Program that allows the local community to help its students identify and reach their academic and career goals. Parents, friends, alumni and local professionals contribute their expertise and give advice to students through e-mail and online forums. The expanded Career Database allows students to search career profiles, financial aid opportunities and scholarship awards. The ECOS Portfolio also allows students to store their complete personal history, including grades, awards, extracurricular activities, a four-year plan and more.

ECOS is used by high schools, middle schools and community colleges across the United States, as well as by community-based organizations such as Boys and Girls Clubs of America, TRIO Programs and the Urban League. Embark.com, San Francisco, CA, 415.778.6262, www.embark.com.
