Grant Rewards Technology Leadership

The BellSouth Foundation has awarded $5.5 million to recipients of the Power to Teach grant, the second phase of BellSouth’s two-year, $10 million edu.pwr3 grant program. Applicants were asked to show examples of vision, quality and leadership support of technology. The grants require the demonstrated support and commitment of school leaders, who will provide newly trained teachers with the tools they need to put their lessons to use.

The BellSouth Foundation has awarded $5.5 million to recipients of the Power to Teach grant, the second phase of BellSouth’s two-year, $10 million edu.pwr3 grant program. Applicants were asked to show examples of vision, quality and leadership support of technology. The grants require the demonstrated support and commitment of school leaders, who will provide newly trained teachers with the tools they need to put their lessons to use.

An average grant of more than $100,000 g'es to 36 different school districts and teacher organizations across the Southeast. Winning school districts/teacher organizations will use the grants to train teachers to integrate online technologies into curriculum, improve their current technology, and make a difference in the overall learning environment at schools after their training.

The final phase of BellSouth’s edu.pwr3 program is Power to Learn. The Foundation will choose three to five schools in the South whose administrators are committed to comprehensive professional development and technology integration.
