Solution Makes Student Web Surfing Safe

Blue Squirrel introduces three new products: EduFly, WebWhacker EE (Education Edition), and Network WebWhacker EE. EduFly is a growing education resource hub on the Web that can be accessed from within WebWhacker EE. Users from around the world can browse a rated list of favorite educator resource sites by grade level or topic and download desired sites. Each user will initially receive one full year of free access to the program.

WebWhacker is a kid safe Web surfing solution. Instructors are given 100% control over Web content viewed by their students. Teachers also have access to hundreds of approved educational Web sites that can be viewed, downloaded and archived with a single click. The solution includes an Auto Copy function, which bundles and copies selected sites automatically to a floppy disk, zip drive, or other storage media. The Blue Squirrel site license version of the Auto Copy function allows sites to be automatically copied into a specified network directory that can be viewed from any terminal on the network. Also offered only through the site license version is the Auto Deploy tool, which can instantly deploy a selected site to an entire computer lab or classroom. In addition, the Free Space Indicator immediately reveals how much free space is available on the selected media, and monitors pages and size of a site as it is being downloaded. The Network WebWhacker EE is very similar to the WebWhacker EE, except it runs on a network, includes a three year subscription to EduFly, and allows teachers to control browsing on student workstations in a classroom or computer lab setting.
