Portable Technology Company Licenses Palm OS

AlphaSmart's flagship writing, keyboarding and test-taking tool, the AlphaSmart 3000, will now be offered with a Palm OS platform, making it available for use in high schools, community colleges and universities. The AlphaSmart 3000 is a low-cost, portable technology tool used in many classrooms worldwide. Because it's offered at a fraction of the cost of a full-featured computer, an entire class can be economically outfitted with AlphaSmart 3000s, enabling students to learn at their own pace.

AlphaSmart plans to continue introducing enhancements to its tool while pursuing the development of Palm OS-based tools that address specific curriculum requirements of institutions.
