The SmartStep 100D desktop system from Dell is designed for first-time Dell computer buyers and includes a monitor, six months of Internet access, speakers and service, and support in one price. For a monthly fee, customers can surf the Web, download music or e-mail friends and co-workers. The basic configuration includes an Intel Celeron processor at 1 GHz, 128 MB SDRAM, 20 GB hard drive, PC speakers, 15" monitor, modem and six months of America Online Internet service. Also, customers receive Microsoft's new Windows XP Home Edition operating system, Music Match software for listening to digital music and Dell Picture Studio for processing and sharing digital photos.
