Reading Comprehension Booster

Merit Software (www.meritsoftware.com) has two products that are designed to assist students in grades 3-5 increase and utilize their reading skills. The first, Reading Comprehension Booster, contains six levels of difficulty that include 120 reading passages and 1,320 accompanying questions which ask students to think about word relationships, as well as recognize proper inferences, main ideas and logical sequences of sentences. The company also has released Read and Respond Punch, which combines reading comprehension and writing competencies to teach students vocabulary, comprehension, writing, organizing, revising and proofreading skills. The program’s 15 topics feature 1,050 help prompts that guide students through reading a passage and answering questions which test their understanding of the excerpt.
