DOE Funds Video Game Research for Middle School Science

The United States Department of Education has awarded $9.2 million to the Education Development Center, a non-profit education research organization, to study how video games can be used in middle school science instruction in the classroom. For the program, EDC will serve as a "National R&D Center on Instructional Technology," developing software and curricula focused on educational video games.

Learning management system developer Blackboard has formally launched its new Blackboard K-12 School Central, a hosted learning platform for Web-based course delivery, enhanced classroom instruction, and teacher professional development. NEC Debuts 4 Education Projectors

California SchoolCharts 2008 Available Free Through December

California-based K-12 technology company SchoolCity has announced the availability of the '08 version of California SchoolCharts, a state accountability reporting tool first released by the company in 2006. The new version is being made available to all educators in the state free of charge through December 2008.
