iEARN Looks To Expand Online Cross-Cultural Collaboration

The International Education and Resource Network (iEARN) is expanding its "Building Respect through Internet Dialogue and Global Education" (BRIDGE) program and is looking to increase the numbers of teachers, schools, and programs involved with the online academic and cultural initiative. Through a new grant from the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art, the program will support new professional scholarships for educators, among other expanded offerings.

Dimdim Launches Hosted Virtual Classroom

Videoconferencing software developer Dimdim recently announced that it's releasing a Web-based conferencing solution specifically for education. The company's new Dimdim Virtual Classroom Pack, which debuted late last month, allows 10 teachers to host up to 40 students at a time in an online environment.

ProfCast Lecture Capture Software Enhances Export, Adds Presentation Software Detection

Humble Daisy has released an update to ProfCast, a software application designed for capturing and distributing classroom lectures as enhanced podcasts. ProfCast 2.2.1b2, a public beta of the presentation capture software, includes fixes and enhancements to previous releases and is available now for Mac OS X.

Panopto Launches Hosted Lecture Capture System

Panopto this week announced a new software as a service (SaaS) version of its lecture capture system, CourseCast. Dubbed CourseCast Hosted, the new edition is designed for educational institutions to capture classroom presentations without the need to invest in the kind of infrastructure generally associated with lecture capture systems.
