eInstruction Debuts Mobile Whiteboard with Touch Screen

The Mobi VIew mobile whiteboard includes a touchscreen and supports input from up to 50 feet.

eInstruction, a company that specializes in student response systems, interactive whiteboards, and educational software, has released a mobile interactive input device that allows annotations to be drawn on a projected image from distances of up to 50 feet.

When combined with a computer and projector, the new mobile whiteboard, Mobi View, offers annotation, highlighting, magnification, lesson capture, and lesson control capabilities.

The device uses a stylus-based tablet and a 4.2-inch color touch screen that provides access to the home screen, favorites, annotations, notes, reports, a soft keyboard, settings, and configurations for multiple users.

The Annotations function offers access to eInstruction's Workspace software; a lesson design tool with screen capture capabilities; an educational flash library dubbed Sims; an image library; and an interactive lessons library that is searchable by grade, subject, and state. Integrated questions are available for some of the lessons in the lessons library.

A Favorites menu gives one touch access to saved Web sites, while the Notes feature allows notes to be written for personal use or shared with the class.

When the Mobi View is combined with one or more of eInstruction's student response pads, the Report feature can be used to grade work automatically. Reports can also sort results by student, response per student, current question, entire class per session, and individual student per session.

The multiple user function can be used to support up to nine mobile student whiteboards simultaneously. This feature supports configurations of two users, four users, and six users.

Other features include a writing area for stylus input (8" x 5"), electromagnetic position-sensing; 16-hour battery life; auto sleep mode; and language support for English, French, Spanish, and Italian.

The device ships with a charging stand, Mobi RF hub, USB Cable, Workspace software, a stylus, and a stylus lanyard.

The Mobi View is compatible with Mac OS X, Windows (XP, Vista, 7), and Linux. The device is currently available for $449. Further information is available here.
