Philips Shows Glasses-free 3D Displays

Technology company Philips showed new 3D displays that are "glasses-free" last week at the InfoComm 2012 conference in Las Vegas. Philips also introduced a new Touch series of displays and a new lineup of commercial-caliber televisions.
Philips' public signage division has introduced new 42-inch and 55-inch commercial displays with conversion software that converts 3D Stereo and 2D content into glasses-free 3D content in real-time. The displays require no specially prepared content and provide a 3D picture from multiple viewing angles. The new line of displays will be available globally in mid-June.
The company has also introduced commercial-grade touch displays sized at 32, 42, 46, 55, and 65 inches. The new Philips Touch Series comes in two different touch technologies. Optical sensing dual-touch allows for two simultaneous touch points at the same time, useful for digital signage deployment in small kiosks and point-of-sale environments. The infrared sensing multi-touch technology allows for multiple touch points at the same time, suitable for large screen digital signage implementations in larger board rooms and public information kiosks. Users can compile the touch displays into video wall or table touch systems 92 inches and larger in configuration.
Philips also announced a new series of commercial-caliber televisions in 40-, 46-, and 55-inch formats. The Advantage Series sets come with volume limitation, cloning ability, integration with a set-top box, and a commercial warranty and service plan.
