New Jersey District Adds 4.5 MW Solar System

New Jersey's Toms River Regional Schools has completed construction of a 4.5-megawatt photovoltaic solar system.

Funded through a power purchase agreement with American Clean Energy, the system comprises 16,000 solar panels on 13 district buildings and will provide 5,095,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each year.

"In addition to the energy savings, we are very excited about achieving the environmental benefits provided by going solar," said Frank Roselli, Toms River superintendent. "It is important that our actions provide a living lesson to our students and the community regarding our commitment to a healthy, safe world. American Clean Energy's competitively priced power purchase agreement allowed us to achieve those goals without having to take money out of our pocket."

Toms River Regional School District enrolls more than 17,000 students in grades K-12. It serves the Toms River, Pine Beach, Beachwood, and South Toms River areas of New Jersey, and is the state's fourth largest school district.
