Recycler Contest Awarding Interactive Whiteboard Alternative

FundingFactory, a company that pays schools for used printer cartridges and other items, has teamed up with Learning Resources, a manufacturer of educational products, to give away classroom technology to encourage schools to amplify their recycling fundraising efforts.

During the current school year, participants in FundingFactory's recycling program have three ways to win one of Learning Resources' now!Boards. This $499 kit turns a flat surface, including a flat-panel TV or monitor, into an interactive whiteboard. The components can work with any projectors and either a PC or Mac computer. Because it's USB-powered, it requires no external power source. Other prizes are also being offered.

To enter the contests, participants can:

  • Log into their FundingFactory account every Tuesday during October;
  • Set an annual fundraising goal by October 31; and
  • Achieve their school's goal of $500 or more by May 31, 2013.

FundingFactory, a division of a larger recycling operation that promotes its services to schools, pays participants for used inkjet and toner printer cartridges, cell phones, and other small electronics. Schools can earn cash or points redeemable for new technology and other products in the company's online Rewards Catalog. New this fall, participants are able to redeem points to purchase Learning Resources products, including now!Board, which goes for 1280 points. According to FundingFactory's qualifying item list, that's the equivalent of recycling 2,560 HP 100 or Apple M3240G/A black ink cartridges.
