Fluke Adds Agentless Device Visibility to Wireless Management

Fluke Networks has introduced new capability in its AirMagnet line that allows an organization to track wireless smart devices without having to deploy client software, such as an agent, on the device. "BYOD Classification," as the company is referring to the feature, provides visibility into mobile devices that aren't authorized for the network or are rogue devices that need to be shut out. It's available as a software update on networks running AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer PRO release 10.5 and AirMagnet Enterprise release 10.6. The goal is to give network administrators information about any smart device that appears on the network.

"Today's wireless engineer is only as good as the information he or she can get about the network and its activity," said Chia-Chee Kuan, vice president and general manager of the company's WLAN business unit. The new capability "instantly gives them the intelligence needed to optimize the network for smart device usage or take action against possible smart device threats."

AirMagnet Enterprise provides functionality for managing a wireless network, including intrusion prevention, performance monitoring, and health checks. WiFi Analyzer PRO provides wireless network monitoring and troubleshooting for Wi-Fi problems.
