Leonar3Do Debuts 3D Application Builder, Online App Store

Leonar3Do, a developer of virtual reality software products, unveiled a new product line--dubbed Vimensio--targeted at the education market at this week's 2013 International CES show in Las Vegas. The new product line, slated for release in early 2013, is designed to allow educators and students to create and interact with 3D objects in virtual space.

Vimensio comes with a 3D application builder--Vimensio Edit--and interactive player, called Vimensio Play. Vimensio Edit enables users to produce 3D content and apps. The company plans to release two versions of the editor—one for beginners, with limited or no coding experience, and a Pro version for advanced designers. According to Leonar3Do, the Pro version will allow these developers to "build or modify 3DVR applications by modifying key functions of Vimensio (object handling, interaction, and moving) via a Python-based script interface." Vimensio works with 3D printers.

Vimensio Play, which enables users to present and work with 3D objects, also includes an online 3D app store. The company will encourage designers to share their apps through contests and a revenue-sharing model, to be introduced in the future.

Vimensio Edit will be available for $499 USD when the product is released this quarter. Vimensio Play will be available at no charge. Users will need Leonar3Do or HelloVR technology in order to use Vimensio.

Additional information about Vimensio is available online.
