Compass Learning, GlobalScholar Form Partnership for Personalized Learning

Compass Learning and GlobalScholar are partnering to integrate their digital curriculum and assessments and adaptive testing software. The alliance means that school districts will be able to use the GlobalScholar Performance Series to evaluate students' learning levels, and Compass Learning Odyssey to provide personalized lessons and assessments based on those results.

GlobalScholar Performance Series is designed to generate adaptive tests based on students' skill levels in reading, language arts, math, and life science. Test level difficulty increases or decreases based on students' correct or incorrect answers as they proceed through the test. The Performance Series also creates a Suggested Learning Objectives report, which teachers can use to identify areas in need of improvement. In addition, it can create custom reports and several analyses.

Compass Learning Odyssey provides a variety of online interactive activities, including reading, animations, videos, and manipulatives. As students complete activities, Odyssey provides assessments aligned with individualized academic goals for each student. It can be used for response to intervention, virtual learning, homebound programs, credit recovery, online schools, blending learning environments, and more. In addition, CompassLearning Odyssey Manager allows teachers to create objectives summaries and keep track of student progress with learning path status and student progress reports. This allows teachers to track student, class, school and district progress.

With the new integration, students complete testing in Performance Series and learning paths are designated for each student. Then, students participate in state- and Common Core State Standards-aligned Compass Learning activities based on subject areas that require improvement.

"We are excited about what the integration of these two solutions does to pinpoint and meet the instructional needs of each of our students, while automating administrative tasks so our teachers can focus on accelerating student learning," said Shelly Mize, superintendent of Tarrant City Schools in Tarrant, AL, in a prepared statement. "With the combination of Performance Series and Odyssey, teachers have immediate access to data that enables the most accurate placement of each student, engaging educational content to meet the individual learning needs of each student, and measurement data and reports to inform instructional adjustments and measure progress. It is a winning combination for teachers, students, and parents."
