Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Chooses Platform for K-12 Core Curriculum

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) has chosen a digital learning platform to deliver its K-12 core curriculum content to schools via Android, iOS, Windows, and Web browsers.

HMH chose Kno for its interactive features, social sharing, and learning analytics, according to a company release.

Along with interactive enhancement of HMH content, Kno will serve as the distribution platform from which school districts can assign, manage and monitor their digital textbooks.

Highlights of the Kno platform include:

  • eTextbook search functionality;
  • Note sharing between students and instructors;
  • Student self-testing via quizzes and automatic flashcards of glossary terms;
  • Embedded links to videos, Web sites, and interactive modules;  and
  • Cross-platform availability and cloud-based syncing of content across multiple platforms and devices.

Schools and teachers can request sample copies of digital textbooks to evaluate content for their classrooms.

"Our goal is to provide students and teachers with quality, interactive content wherever and whenever they learn, and no matter which device they use," said Tim Cannon, executive vice president of alliances and services for HMH, in a release. "Schools and districts will now have access to trusted HMH core curriculum, enhanced by Kno's unique interactive and social features."

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is headquartered in Boston, MA and provides preK–12 education materials to 60 million students in 120 countries. The company also publishes novels, non-fiction, children's books, and reference works.

Kno is an education software company co-founded by Osman Rashid and Babur Habib in May, 2009.
