Think Through Math Adds New Features to Online Learning System

Think Through Math, a supplemental online math intervention system designed to prepare students in math for grades 3 to Algebra 1 for Common Core standards, has added new features and enhanced existing capabilities.

Think Through Math provides a personalized pathway based on assessment results up to Algebra 1. The system monitors student progress and includes precursor lessons for students who require them, and students receive instantaneous feedback. Online learning coaches, who have character-based avatars, are also available to provide support to students. In addition, live, certified math teachers are available to help students with the program.

The Think Through Math software is designed to motivate students to succeed by providing them with "think points," which are converted into cash at a rate of $1 for every 5,000 points, which is then donated to nonprofit organizations. For example, in May, Think Through Math students donated more than $11,000 to the American Red Cross West Texas Relief Fund, and in June, they donated $12,000 for Oklahoma tornado relief.

New Think Through Math features include:

  • Assessment questions based on the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers and Smarter Balanced Assessment consortiums, which are led by states to prepare students for Common Core requirements. Some questions include multiple steps;
  • More than 300 new fill-in-the-blank questions;
  • Thirteen new lessons for grades 1 and 2, for a total of 213 lessons; and
  • Redesigned dashboards with tools for teacher-student communication, customization, and using points.
