Impulse Point Integrates SafeConnect with iboss Secure Web Gateway for BYOD Security

Impulse Point SafeConnect, a network security tool for K-12, now integrates with the iboss secure Web gateway to provide identity-based access management for education networks.

According to information from the Impulse Point, a provider of network access control solutions, SafeConnect correlates and tracks a user's identity, assigned role in the school district, and devices. With the integration, SafeConnect can provide this information to the iboss SWG in real time, so iboss can apply the appropriate level of security based on the district's policies. School districts can use this functionality to control who has access to different types of Web content based on their user role (faculty, staff, student, or guest) or based on a school's grade level or location. The functionality may be particularly useful for school districts with bring-your-own-device policies or 1-to-1 initiatives.

“Our integration partnership with iboss allows us to address a number of key requirements we are hearing from our K-12 customer base,” said Brian Herzig, vice president of strategic alliances for Impulse Point, in a prepared statement. “SafeConnect extends the capability of iboss’ SWG to address the need of providing identity-based policies to BYOD and one-to-one computing environments and the ability to persist end-user authentication across the network to enhance the experience for students and faculty members.”
