Reading Horizons Adds Vocab Preview, Mini Games

Reading Horizons has launched Reading Horizons Discovery 6.0, an updated version of its literacy development program for students in grades K-3, with a Common Core report and other features.

The new Common Core report automatically updates to let teachers and administrators see how students are progressing against the standards and identify which standards students may be struggling with.

The update also includes a new vocabulary preview tool, which allows instructors to "project the vocabulary being learned to the whole class and have students spell and decode words alongside their peers," according to a company news release.

A new "clubhouse store" allows students to personalize their clubhouses, which is where all activities in the software begin. Students earn coins for the store by completing various in-program tasks.

Reading Horizons Discovery 6.0 also adds three new mini games designed to help keep students engaged with the program and provide another method for students to collect coins.
