Hooda Math Adds Free Games To Fight Summer Slide
Hooda Math has released three new free games in an effort to help prevent summer slide among students in elementary and middle school.
The games, Integer Tilt, Sand Grid and Time Punch, "review essential math concepts like integers, coordinate pairs and telling time in an engaging way," according to a news release.
The games cover Common Core grade-level standards and feature email reporting and mobile device optimization.
Integer Tilt asks students to keep a scale balanced using arrows. Sand Grid introduces students to finding the slope of a line and reviews coordinate pairs by asking them to draw lines between two points to drop sand into a bucket. Time Punch, for students in grades 2-4, focuses on time-telling skills, such as analog to digital and hours to minutes conversions.
"It is hard to get students to practice math over the summer, and we recommend at least 15 minutes a day of any math activity," said Michael Edlavitch, founder and CEO of Hooda Math, in a prepared statement. "With Hooda Math, students have so much fun playing our cool math games that they barely realize they are learning."
