Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to Offer PD in Online Instruction

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) will now train educators in designing and teaching courses for the Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN). The university's Instructional Design and Educational Technology Master of Science program was recently approved as a TxVSN provider of professional development for teachers who are new to online instruction.

The Texas Virtual School Network is a clearinghouse of online courses that supplement the instructional programs of the state's public school districts and open enrollment charter schools. The courses are reviewed by the Texas Education Agency to ensure they meet the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum standards as well as the North American Council for Online Learning (iNACOL) national standards of quality for online courses. Instructors teaching courses in the TxVSN network must be Texas-certified in the course subject area and grade level and must have completed TxVSN-approved professional development on effective online instruction.
