Data Driven PD Designed To Help Teachers Differentiate Instruction

A professional development provider and a company that specializes in data-driven instruction are partnering on a new product they say will help teachers apply data about their students to their curriculum development.

Educational technology firm Amplify and Knowledge Delivery Systems (KDS), the professional development company, will partner on "Taking Action With Data," an online course that will help teachers and administrators better use data to raise student achievement in their classrooms and districts.

The course, which includes 45 hours of instruction with video and application resources, is available for university-level continuing education credit. Subjects covered include:

  • Collecting data on students;
  • Using that data to inform instruction;
  • Analyzing the results; and
  • Modifying instruction to help students.

Officials at both companies say the online course will help teachers "bridge the divide" between instruction and personalized learning.

"Our ultimate goal in giving teachers access to great professional learning is to help them transform their practice and reach every learner," said KDS CEO Alvin Crawford.

The course includes subject material from leading experts in subject matter and researchers. It also covers strategies for differentiating instruction and promoting colleague support among educators, with video footage of how some of those strategies have been put into practice.
