SchoolCircle Launches Free App for Teacher-Parent Communications

SchoolCircle is a new, free Web app for teachers and parents designed to facilitate communication and event coordination.

SchoolCircle is intended to replace the various e-mails, reply-all threads and paper flyers used to communicate between teachers and parents and to make it easier for parents to keep track of school deadlines, appointments and commitments.

Teachers and parents can get started by visiting the SchoolCircle site and creating a free account. Teacher accounts let them create a "circle" of parents for their class, and they can share messages, pictures and files with members of their circle, as well as organize events and and assign tasks.

Parents can sign up for a free SchoolCircle account when they are invited by their child's teacher, or they can create an account and invite the teacher and other parents to join. Parents can see all of the upcoming events, classroom pictures, documents and messages shared by the teacher, and they can import events into their personal calendar. They can also receive morning reminders at 7 a.m., daily digests at 5 p.m. and weekly planners on Sundays. If the teacher has an urgent message, they can send it to parents immediately.

According to SchoolCircle, the app is particularly useful for parent volunteers, who can creat their own circles and send out classroom content and reminders to other parents, just as the teacher would.

Further information about SchoolCircle can be found on the company's site.
