ISTE Unveils Free Diagnostic Tool, Resource Portal for Tech Integration

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has launched a free new diagnostic tool and resource library, together dubbed the ISTE Lead and Transform Movement, for school and district technology integration.

Based on ISTE's 14 Essential Conditions for teaching and learning with technology, the Lead and Transform Diagnostic Tool is designed to provide CTOs, CIOs and other school or district leaders a measure of their organization's progress toward technology integration. The tool provides a free report highlighting strengths and areas in need of improvement.

"With the data in the report, educator leaders can measure their school's progress toward becoming technology standards ready, support the development of comprehensive plans and decision-making and identify the resources they need to meet their goals," according to a news release.

The Lead and Transform Resource Portal provides additional information on the Essential Conditions and how to use them in support of effective technology integration.

"Clark County School District's transformation to a digital learning environment exemplifies the way that districts around the country can use the ISTE Essential Conditions to successfully implement change," said ISTE Chief Innovation Officer Wendy Drexler, in a news release. "Lead & Transform provides all schools and districts with the tools and resources to design and follow the unique paths necessary to make the transition and increase student engagement and achievement."

"We have to ensure the success of every one of our students in every one of our classrooms," said Pat Skorkowsy, superintendent at Clark County School District, in a prepared statement. "Technology is a tool that can help us get there and if we are looking at things differently and being innovative, we can change the way that education is perceived across the nation and the way that we are able to move our kids forward."

An online open house with a guided tour of Lead and Transform will take place today at 1:00 pm. More information about the open house is available at connectededucatormonth2014.sched.org. Visit iste.org for more information about the Lead and Transform Diagnostic Tool and Resource Portal.
