PBL Global and MassiveU Offer Online Project Based Learning PD Course

Thom Markham, CEO of PBL Global and author of the book, "Project Based Learning — Expert Tools for Innovation and Inquiry for K-12 Educators," has launched a new online professional development course, "Introduction to Project-Based Learning," on the MassiveU education technology platform.

The six-hour course is offered asynchronously, so teachers can complete it on their own time and at their own pace using any Web-enabled device. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate in project-based learning from PBL Global.

The course content is pedagogically aligned to Markham's book. As educators progress through the course, they will use MassiveU's project-based social learning platform to create "their own personalized projects while communicating and collaborating with peers in a social 'Community of Practice,'" according to a news release from the companies. Following the course, participants will have the opportunity to share their project portfolio with their supervisors and colleagues.

According to information from the company, MassiveU is a project-based social learning platform that "fuses personalized learning, applied activities and social sharing in a self-paced, 21st Century online learning experience."

The cost of "Introduction to Project-Based Learning" is $99 per teacher or $999 per school for up to 50 teachers. Further information about the course can be found on the Introduction to Project-Based Learning site.
