Foundation for Blended and Online Learning Debuts Grant, Scholarship Programs

The newly formed Foundation for Blended and Online Learning has released information on its grant, scholarship and research programs.

Scholarships from the foundation will be open to students who have graduated from blended or online programs with a special focus on students who have shown academic turnaround and success.

The grant program will award teachers and counselors in an effort to enhance student performance, academic achievement and growth and will build a repository of best practices for teaching with technology.

"The research arm of the foundation will kick off its efforts by creating partnerships to conduct an industry-wide analysis of the increasing demand for online and blended learning and the opportunities these educational programs offer students," according to a news release. "Additional efficacy research projects will follow this inaugural work."

"On behalf of the foundation we are proud to roll out an industry-wide effort to provide opportunities to students and educators in the blended and online space," said Kevin Chavous, board chairman for the foundation, in a prepared statement. "Currently, there are few charitable organizations unique to digital education and the foundation was created to fill that gap. We seek to advance the field of blended and digital learning with an emphasis on giving back to schools, students and communities."

The Foundation for Blended and Online Learning is a new charitable organization launched by K12.
