GoGuardian, a company that develops digital learning software used by more than 3 million teachers, students and administrators worldwide, has launched a new feature that allows teachers and students to communicate directly on Chromebooks.

The Chat feature is now live on GoGuardian Teacher, a classroom management tool for Chromebooks, after nearly 1,000 users requested the feature. Chat for GoGuardian Teacher allows teachers and students to communicate one-on-one to work through problems together, select resources and resolve areas of confusion. This way, students can receive extra help from teachers without drawing attention or disrupting other students.

“While Chat was designed with all students in mind, we expect it to particularly benefit students who most need personalized curricula: namely, students outpacing their classmates, as well as those requiring additional attention or resources,” said Tyler Shaddix, product manager for GoGuardian Teacher, in a statement.

Classrooms that are already set up in GoGuardian Teacher will have Chat disabled by default, while new classrooms will have Chat enabled by default. Teachers can adjust settings for Chat at any time.

A video demonstration of the new feature is available on the GoGuardian YouTube site.
