Acer Debuts Rugged Chromebook N7 for Classrooms

Acer today released its newest Chromebook for education customers, boasting enhanced durability, long battery life and other features that make it ideal for students and classroom use.

The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) has durability and design features that “ensure maximum uptime and contribute to reduced IT maintenance,” according a company statement.  

Key features include:

  • A spill-resistant keyboard with durable keys that cannot be easily removed by students;
  • Ability to withstand a drop from 48 inches;
  • 12-hour battery life;
  • Fan-less design for quiet operation;
  • 4 GB of RAM;
  • Runs on Intel Celeron N3060;
  • Fast dual-band 2x2 MIMO 802.11ac WiFi;
  • Bluetooth 4.0 connection;
  • Two USB ports, one HDMI port, one 3.5 mm combo audio port and a built-in SD card reader; and
  • IPS touch screen or non-touch screen display options available with either 16 GB or 32 GB storage.

“Chromebooks have become the de facto standard for education technology in many districts around the country,” said Chris Chiang, vice president of product management for Acer America, in a company statement. “The new Acer Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) will set the bar even higher for what schools utilize for their classrooms and labs. A durable design, quiet fan-less operation and a portable form factor that makes them easy to transport for 1-to-1 programs, around the classroom, outside and in the lab.”

Acer unveiled the Chromebook N7 at the CES 2017 conference, taking place this week in Las Vegas, NV (Jan. 5-8). The starting price lands at $229.99 and will become available in the United States in January.
