Collabera Offers 2017 STEM Scholarship Opportunity

Collabera, a New Jersey-based IT staffing and professional services company, is supporting STEM students with its 2017 Collabera STEM Scholarship.

The scholarship will grant $2,500 scholarships to three individuals to assist in their efforts toward pursuing STEM careers. The applicants must submit a one-page essay answering the following: “Pursuing a career in STEM requires a strong commitment to stay on top of the ever-changing world of technology. As a future STEM leader, what influenced your decision to pursue a career in STEM and how do you think you will make an impact in this industry?”

The students who best answer the question will be declared the recipients of the scholarship, which is broken down according to region.

The scholarships will be awarded to first-year students who are planning to attend an accredited, public or private, two-year or four-year college or university in the United States, on a full-time basis in the fall semester of 2017. The applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and should plan to pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. All submissions will be accepted until March 30. 

Here are the available scholarships:

  • National — open to individuals pursuing a career in STEM across the United States;
  • Redmond/Seattle region — open to individuals located within the Redmond/Seattle region who plan on pursuing a career in STEM; and
  • New York/New Jersey region — open to individuals located within the New York/New Jersey region who plan on pursuing a career in STEM.

“STEM education is the foundation for building a strong engineering and technology workforce of the future,” said Ashwin Rao, executive vice president of Collabera, in a statement. “Supporting deserving students to pursue their careers in STEM is an initiative we felt can have a larger impact to society.”
