Kahoot to Add Gaming to Office 365 Teams

Education technology company Kahoot has announced integration with Microsoft Teams, the Redmond company's group chat software for Office 365 for Education. Kahoot is a program that enables users, including teachers, to create learning games out of quizzes, surveys and discussion forums. In early May Microsoft announced new features in Teams specifically for classrooms.

Kahoot has also announced a couple of new apps for Windows 10.

The integration is intended to help teachers, school leaders and students communicate in new ways through the chat channel. According to Kahoot, the new Teams version will allow users to share games directly with students for individual or group play, set up "kahoots' for colleagues to use in professional development and hook up to professional learning communities "all over the world." The integration is expected to be ready during summer 2017.

Kahoot has also released two new apps: Kahoot! Create and Kahoot! Play, which are available in the Microsoft Store. Create lets users design learning games or choose from existing games to play, duplicate or modify. Play allows users with a PIN from the host to join a game from their computers or mobile devices.

"We are pleased to see Kahoot!'s game-based learning platform [integrated] into Microsoft Teams, enabling deeper engagement in the classroom between teachers and students, and promote enhanced communication amongst teams and groups," said Mike Tholfsen, the principal group program manager for Microsoft Education, in a press release.
