Cyber Robotics Coding Competition Kicks Off
Students in grades 5-8 can register now for the third annual Cyber Robotics Coding Competition from the Intelitek STEM and CTE Foundation. The competition consists of four phases where students are taught the foundations of coding and robotics and compete to win awards.
The entire competition is hosted on the CoderZ Cyber Robotics Learning Environment, a cloud-based platform that features a graphical simulation of LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots.
"The best thing about CRCC is that teachers or students don't need prior coding or robotics knowledge to compete," said CoderZ CEO Ido Yerushalmi. "Educators love that it offers incredible equity – reaching more students, of all genders, of all levels and from all educational paths and involves them in a fun and engaging online competition where everyone wins."
The first phase of the competition is a set of three professional development webinars for participating educators. On Oct. 15, students will start participating in a two-week bootcamp to learn about coding. The competition will start on Oct. 29 with qualifier phases where students will compete to earn points for their teams and qualify for finals. In the fourth and final phase, student teams will represent their schools in in-person regional events.
In 2018, more than 45,000 students participated in the Cyber Robotics Coding Competition from U.S. schools in 23 states.
