LEGO is teaming up with Amazon Alexa to bring voice technology to robotics play. The LEGO MINDSTORMS Voice Challenge connects LEGO robots to the Alexa Gadgets Toolkit and tasks contest participants to create voice-powered experiences.

Individuals or teams will build a LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 creation that responds to commands from Amazon Echo devices. Each project submission must include a description, video demonstration, code snippets and a detailed building process. Up to $100,000 in prizes will be awarded to participants.

The first 100 participants to submit their creations will receive a $150 Amazon gift card. Five finalists will receive $10,000 in Amazon gift cards and two LEGO robotics kits.

One submission will be chosen as the grand prize winner and receive $20,000 in Amazon gift cards and two LEGO robotics kits.  The grand prize winner also wins a trip to the LEGO headquarters in Denmark and their creation will be featured the LEGO World event in Copenhagen.

The judges will also select one winner between the ages of 13 and 17 who will receive $5,500 in Amazon gift cards and two LEGO robotics kits.

Final projects must be submitted by Dec. 31. Contest winners will be announced on Jan. 17.
