Both students and coaches on teams that belong to the North America Scholastic Esports Federation can take advantage of free online coaching for League of Legends later this month. NASEF's training is part of its "Scholastic Esports Academies."
The LoL coaching for advisors and coaches consists of two 90-minute sessions. The first one begins on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 and the second one on Saturday, Jan. 25. Both begin at 3:30 Pacific time. Participants must be active NASEF general managers or adults affiliated with a NASEF esports club. They must also intend to participate and field a team in the upcoming LoL season and have some experience in playing or watching competitive LoL. The sessions will include group activities, projects and quizzes.
The LoL training for students lasts for three 90-minute sessions, taking place on Jan. 24, Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 at 3:30 p.m. Pacific time. There will also be an additional four hours of hands-on mentorship with an assigned NASEF coach. Students will have the chance to participate in individual projects, group discussions and a private Discord channel for coaches and students to discuss ongoing development throughout this season. Discord is a free voice and text chat channel for gamers.
Among the topics for both groups are:
-
Core objectives and concepts;
-
Analyzing team statistics;
-
Replays and video-on-demand review basics;
-
Performance basics;
-
Practice drills and resources; and
-
Mechanics, abilities and movement.
Everybody will need access to an active Discord account and the NASEF Educator server, the use of a microphone and headset and the ability to open Zoom for video conferencing on either a computer or smartphone.
NASEF is a nonprofit esports organization that makes its club affiliations available free. Clubs and participants need to adhere to a NASEF code of conduct.
Registration for the training, which is limited, is available on the NASEF website.
