SETDA Adds Director of Innovation and Design

The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) has named a new director of innovation and design. Jason Bailey was previously the senior elearning strategist for the Indiana Department of Education. Among the work Bailey did there was development of the Indiana Summer of eLearning conference series, which brings experts into numerous schools for presentations and workshops over the course of several weeks; publication of the Indiana School Tech Plan Survey and creation of the state's educational cybersecurity initiative, which provided programming for improving security in K-12 schools.

Previously, Bailey was a teacher, technology specialist and district administrator. In 2009, he led a team of coaches and technology specialists in implementing a 1-to-1 program for 14,000 middle and high school students at Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation.

Bailey is a long-time SETDA state member and former professional learning committee chair. He holds a doctor of philosophy in educational leadership from Indiana State University.

"SETDA Executive Director Candice Dodson's leadership and SETDA's unmatched potential for national collaboration make this an organization poised to do amazing things," Bailey said in a statement. "I am excited to join such a talented team in supporting state leaders focused on increasing powerful learning opportunities for students."

"SETDA begins 2020 renewed, recommitted and refocused on supporting the needs of our state members, affiliates and partners," added Dodson. "As 2019 drew to a close, I worked with our board and staff on plans to build capacity for SETDA to meet new challenges, and develop new resources. The first step in that plan is the addition of a director of innovation and design. Today, we are excited to welcome Dr. Jason Bailey to serve in this capacity."
