VHS Learning Adds Spanish 1 to its Credit Recovery Course Offerings

VHS Learning has added Spanish 1 to its online course options for high school students needing to make up credit to graduate or move on to the next grade, the education nonprofit announced today.

Spanish 1 is one of 19 courses offered through VHS Learning’s online credit recovery program; each course requires a minimum of four weeks for completion, and students can take up to 15 weeks to earn the course credit.

Students can enroll any time and work at their own pace, VHS Learning said. The organization recommends that students check with their school to confirm their district will award credit for any VHS Learning course. The courses cost $275 for quarter- and half-credit subjects and $450 for full-credit subjects such as Spanish 1, English (grades 9–12), U.S. History, and math courses.

The new Spanish 1 course includes an introduction to Spanish language and the cultures of Spanish-speaking nations; its curriculum meets the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language World Readiness Standards, VHS Learning said. Students in the Spanish 1 course will need to upload videos of themselves speaking Spanish for some assignments, to demonstrate proficiency.

Spanish 1 also will be launched as an eight-week summer course in June 2022, VHS Learning said.
