Deadline Approaching for PD Grants for Mathematics Teachers

May 1 is the deadline to apply for individual teacher grants of up to $3,000 each from the Mathematics Education Trust of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

The Professional Development Scholarship Emphasizing History, Number Theory or Discrete Mathematics grants aim to fund teachers’ efforts to complete credited course work in one of the following areas: some aspect of the history of mathematics, number theory, or discrete mathematics; or to create and field-test appropriate classroom activities; or to prepare and deliver a professional development presentation to colleagues, according to NCTM’s website.

Mathematics teachers with at least three years experience in the classroom in grades 6–12 are eligible to apply. One recipient will be chosen from grades 6–8 and one from grades 9–12.

Applicants must also be a member of NCTM.
