SquadLocker Teams Up With STEM Fuse on Custom Apparel Curriculum

Schools participating in esports through digital curriculum provider STEM Fuse now have access to a program teaching students about custom apparel design, manufacturing, and retail, thanks to a new partnership with SquadLocker, the companies announced today.

Custom apparel software and fulfillment provider SquadLocker’s module within the STEM Fuse launched on April 19. The apparel curriculum costs $1,000 per school, a spokeswoman told THE Journal, while the esports start-up guide and league structure guide are both free for schools.

“Learning about textile technologies and textile engineering has been a lifelong journey of mine,” said SquadLocker CEO Gary Goldberg. “Working with STEM Fuse to develop curriculum that shares my knowledge and love of the textile industry and allows me a platform to share that with others is exciting to me. Kids will be able to learn about how fabric is made, printing and cut and sewn into a finished jersey. From there they will have a chance to have their self-created jersey shipped directly to their home."

The custom-apparel program incorporates industry-aligned, hands-on projects for students interested in learning about apparel manufacturing and design, and it allows students who aren’t into gaming to support their schools esports team in ways that also further their STEM education, the news release said.

“The applied learning component of allowing students to not only design their own jersey from SquadLocker, but also learn how to market and sell merchandise for fundraising, shows the application of textile technology and textile engineering in the real world, which we are thrilled about,” said Tyler Tatge, STEM Fuse Vice President, Platform & eLearning Services.
