IMS Global Learning Consortium Has a New Name: 1EdTech Consortium

IMS Global Learning Consortium, a nonprofit collaborative and marketplace for K–12 schools and educational technology and digital learning marketplace, has rebranded as 1EdTech Consortium and launched a new website with new blog posts and a renewed emphasis on a collaborative ed tech ecosystem.

The change is meant to reflect "a collaboration united in enabling an open, innovative and trusted tech ecosystem across K-12, higher education and corporate learning, that lifts the potential in every learner," according to a news announcement.

The 1EdTech community comprises more than 740 member organizations — including K-12 school districts, state departments of education, higher education institutions, government-led initiatives and edtech suppliers — represented by 7,000-plus individual collaborators across 28 countries. It will continue to focus on enabling digital learning innovation through open standards, digital learning tools, data-informed teaching and learning, advancements in digital microcredentials and learner records, learning application trust and accessibility, and other key areas.

"The 1EdTech brand reflects the passion of our community in working together to achieve what none of us can achieve on our own," said Rob Abel, CEO of 1EdTech, in a statement. "We work collaboratively on the common foundations for an open, innovative and trusted educational technology ecosystem bolstered by what amounts to an unparalleled joint investment in technical work that lifts the entire sector."
