Savvas Enhances myView Literacy Program with New Features Based on Science of Reading Research

Savvas Learning Company has added interactive reading resources to its K–5 core curriculum platform myView Literacy, the company announced today, injecting Science of Reading research in an effort to boost the platform’s impact on student reading achievement.

The interactive learning solution has the following new features, according to a news release:

New Digital Libraries for Kindergarten: Provided by Unite for Literacy, the new digital libraries aim to help ensure that young readers have access to engaging, age-appropriate texts that are connected to each unit’s theme, Savvas said. “Each digital bookshelf includes 50 titles of English and Spanish literature, with additional narration in over 40 languages, to provide every preK and kindergarten student with opportunities to build a daily habit of reading — at school and at home.”

Reading Routines Companion Teacher’s Edition: Updates to myView Literacy's instructional routines aim to help educators address foundational skills for students in grades K–5, offering multi-sensory activities and digital practice lessons for students who might need extra help catching up. “Developed with myView Literacy author Dr. Sharon Vaughn, the Reading Routines Companion provides explicit instruction and teacher modeling in order to deepen whole-class and small-group lessons,” Savvas said.

The myView Literacy platform covers each Science of Reading-identified skill required for effective reading, Savvas said: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The literacy solution is accessible on the Savvas Realize platform; myView Literacy also offers screeners and diagnostic assessments that give teachers “deep insights into their students' literacy skills, combined with seamless access to instructional content to personalize learning for every student,” Savvas said.
