Community Brands Acquires BigSIS

Community Brands (CB), which offers an online software and payment program to charitable nonprofits and K–12 schools, announced this week it has acquired BigSIS, creator of the School Management Information System platform. The acquisition will pair CB's fund accounting and other financial capabilities with BigSIS's admission, enrollment, tuition, fundraising, and academics functions, according to the release.

The flexibility of BigSIS's offerings will allow school administrators to extend access to staff, teachers, students and families to simplify student reporting, payments, attendance logs, schedules, and communication. Also offered will be programs like after-care and summer camps, CB said. The acquisition creates a flexible, easy-to-use, all-in-one integrated data solution for schools, the release noted. Schools will also be able to integrate the BigSIS platform with Ravenna Admissions and MIP Fund Accounting for nonprofits.

The ability to accomplish everyday tasks with accelerated access to all users is a key advantage for private and independent schools to remain competitive, said CB.
