SchoolStatus Buys SI&A, Expanding Product Line with The Achievement Initiative, Good Governance Solutions

School communications and data analytics provider SchoolStatus has acquired School Innovations & Achievement, a software company whose solutions aim to help K–12 school leaders track and improve student attendance and ensure local and state policy compliance, SchoolStatus said in a news release.

The acquisition includes SI&A’s operations, technology, 73-person staff, and client roster, which includes more than 400 districts across nine states, according to the announcement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SchoolStatus said SI&A will continue operating independently while its software is “tightly integrated” with SchoolStatus solutions. SI&A’s flagship products include its Good Governance solution, which helps school district mitigate risk and keep school operations within policy requirements, and The Achievement Initiative, featuring Attention2Attendance, its software and service component.

The Achievement Initiative has proven successful at helping schools address declining enrollment, missing students, chronic absenteeism, the academic side effects of missing school, and disengaged families, SchoolStatus noted.

SI&A's offerings will expand to include solutions from SchoolStatus such as multi-channel school-to-home communication, including email, two-way texting, and calling, according to the announcement. SI&A's current customers will keep the same products and services already in use, SchoolStatus said.

"The addition of SI&A enables SchoolStatus to offer our district partners leading solutions for improving student achievement, attendance, and district governance," said SchoolStatus CEO Russ Davis. "We've seen that higher attendance leads to better student outcomes, and attendance data is one of the key metrics integrated into the SchoolStatus data platform. We'll now have a platform with enhanced capabilities to spot chronic absenteeism, which will allow educators to intervene in real-time, in the primary language of the family."

Founded in 2003, SI&Ais headquartered in El Dorado Hills, California, with two additional California offices and one in Texas.
