7 Mindsets Acquires BASE Education

PreK–12 SEL provider 7 Mindsets has acquired BASE Education, a student social-emotional learning and mental health platform developed by licensed professional counselors, according to a news release. The acquisition “expands and enhances 7 Mindsets’ suite of social-emotional well-being offerings for students, educators, and families,” the company said.

A key enhancement to 7 Mindsets’ product line will be the addition of the multi-tiered system of supports offered by BASE Education, a CASEL-recommended provider; the BASE Education MTSS solution ranges from “whole-class social-emotional learning to more targeted customized interventions for students with individualized behavioral and mental health needs,” 7 Mindsets said.

BASE Education’s proprietary Learn, Connect, Respond model enables educators to more easily address mental health topics typically challenging to discuss; gives students “a way to connect with their emotions”; and provides insights to educators and families that can help bridge the gap with students on social-emotional topics, according to the company’s website. Its modules are offered in three versions: student (self-guided), instructional (for the classroom), and parent/guardian.

“BASE’s solution tackles mental health topics that teachers may find tough to discuss, giving students a vehicle to connect with their emotions in a self-paced and private manner and providing insights that help students and adults respond better to each other,” the company said.

BASE Education Founder and CEO Robin Glenn has been named chief development and strategy officer, joining 7 Mindsets’ executive leadership team, as part of the acquisition. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition is 7 Mindsets’ second since it became a portfolio company of Gauge Capital in December 2021. The company’s K–12 SEL solutions have been used by more than 5 million students and teachers in all 50 states.
