CTL Introduces Tracking Dashboard for K–12 Districts to Keep Tabs on School-Issued Chromebooks

CTL Corp. debuted HiddenApp for K–12 schools to keep track of loaned Chromebooks. The app integrates with the district’s Google Chrome Admin console and monitors, locates, and tracks devices through a dashboard, the company said. It does not invade privacy, but gives schools a better way to keep tabs on their Chromebook fleet.

CTL said HiddenApp’s features include:

  • Customized geofencing alerts;

  • Geolocation tracking built on Google maps;

  • Flexible device protection;

  • Compatibility with existing tech;

  • Easy and quick device enrollment;

  • Cross-platform support (Chromebook, Apple, and Windows); and

  • Mobile device management.

A one-year free license is issued to HiddenApp with each Chromebook purchased by K–12 organizations with a Google domain and is intended for CTL Chromebooks purchased with a Google Education Upgrade license.

“Keeping track of schools' devices is vitally important to ensure students are always engaged and well equipped for success,” notes Erik Stromquist, CTL CEO. “We know many of our customers have had challenges managing lost or stolen devices for a myriad of reasons, including changing student enrollments. That’s why we teamed up with HiddenApp to offer a solution to help IT administrators know where each device is at all times. We believe our offering will help our customers reduce cost, improve ROI and lead to long term sustainability.”
