Pennsylvania School District to Partner With Xello to Help Ready Students for College

The Reading School District in Pennsylvania has partnered with college readiness and career development company Xello to prepare K–12 students with tools for future planning decisions about college or career.

Xello said in a release that its platform offers a "personalized and interactive approach" to guide students in learning about their potential and possible career explorations.

The platform will be available to students in kindergarten through high school, the company said. Its tools will help students to:

  • Access its content in languages other than English;
  • Explore skilled, high-paying, and in-demand careers;
  • Use assessments to gain insights into their own interests, values, and skills;
  • Understand their own career interests, values, and skills through assessments;
  • Investigate post-high school training opportunities;
  • Complete college and career readiness training;
  • Engage in internships and other work-based learning;
  • Navigate the college application process; and
  • Write a shareable resume and professional portfolio.

Xello provides a personalized dashboard for students to use, tailored to their individual needs and interests. The dashboard provides videos, podcasts, and other tools to get students the information they need to help plan for the future, the company said on its website.

Educators can also use the platform to "track and monitor student, school, and district progress," Xello said, with comprehensive student profiles, lesson planning, and two-way communication with students to know where "schools and students stand in their pursuit of future readiness."

The platform also includes resources for parents, found here.

"We believe investing in our students' career and college readiness is a crucial step toward preparing them for a successful future," said Anne Fischer, Reading School District student support director. "Xello's platform is extremely user-friendly and allows us to track progress toward graduation, manage career readiness and work indicators, and forecast future district needs."
