SETDA Names New Director of Projects and Initiatives

SETDA, the association for United States state and territorial educational technology and digital learning leaders, has appointed Ji Soo Song as director of projects and initiatives. He will begin his role on June 10.

Ji Soo most recently served as a digital equity advisor and Federation of American Scientists Impact Fellow in the U.S. Department of Education. He led the Office of Educational Technology's efforts to bridge the digital access divide, and was involved in the publication of federal policy guidance on broadband adoption as well as the development and implementation of the 2024 National Educational Technology Plan.

He has also served as senior policy advisor at the International Society for Technology in Education, where he focused on research, analysis, and communication of public policy issues related to digital learning standards, educator credentialing, and professional development funding. 

"Ji Soo Song's extensive background as a digital equity advisor and his leadership in the U.S. Department of Education has prepared him well to be SETDA's next Director of Projects and Initiatives," said Mindy Fiscus, SETDA Board Chair, in a statement. "His proven expertise in technology policy and his role in developing the 2024 National Education Technology Plan make him a strategic addition to our team. With the addition of Ji Soo, SETDA continues to be in a unique position to make significant progress on leveraging technology to improve educational outcomes for all students. We welcome Ji Soo as the newest member of SETDA!"
