Clever Introduces Layered Security Solution for Identity and Access Management

Digital learning platform Clever has announced a layered security solution that utilizes multiple layers of protection to provide secure identity and access management for schools. The offering features an array of tools "uniquely designed for the needs of K-12," according to the company.

Security protections include:

  • Clever directory, which provides a centralized place to manage all school technology users;
  • Clever Identity Management (IDM), providing automated account provisioning and management for Google, AD, and Entra ID;
  • Clever Rostering, allowing IT teams to use any SIS to securely create and update accounts for ed tech apps;
  • Clever Single Sign-On (SSO), which streamlines and secures logins with a personalized portal; and
  • Classroom MFA, providing accounts with an additional, classroom-friendly layer of security.

Clever has also introduced a new Clever Cybersecurity Blueprint, a free resource aimed at helping districts implement cybersecurity best practices. It covers key tactics and guidelines in five areas:

  • Securing identities and access;
  • Protecting devices;
  • Proactively managing vendors;
  • Preparing for recovery; and
  • Cultivating a cybersecurity culture.

"I think that it's critical that ed tech executives, including me, are proactive in leading cybersecurity strategy and key initiatives for all of our schools, from the largest to the smallest, regardless of IT resources," said Trish Sparks, CEO of Clever. "All of our students deserve our protection."
