Study Reveals NCLB's Impact on the Classroom
The Civil Rights Project at Harvard University recently released the findings of its study on urban teachers' options of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. "Listening to Teachers: Classroom Realities and No Child Left Behind" surveyed close to 1.500 teachers, asking them to evaluate the theories at the heart of NCLB and its impact in the classroom. The findings show that while teachers agree with many of the law's goals, they also are concerned that aspects of its implementation may be negatively impacting curriculum, instruction, and the ability of underperforming schools to attract ad retain teachers.
