Brief: Smithsonian, State Department Partner on Free Diplomacy Conference

A collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution, the National Park Service and the Diplomatic Reception Rooms at the United States State Department will host a free online conference, Diplomacy in Action, tomorrow.

Designed for teachers and students, the conference will be introduced by Secretary of State John Kerry and will feature three sessions hosted by the Smithsonian Center for Learning and Digital Access with "experts from each agency, highlighting objects in their respective collections that exemplify the idea of diplomacy," according to a news release.

Students who attend the conference will have the opportunity to earn a "Diplomat" badge through the Smithsonian Quests program.

The sessions will begin at 10 am EDT February 12. Go to smithsonianeducationconferences.org to learn more. Visit YouTube to see Secretary Kerry's introduction.
