Crowdsourced Report Ranks Blackboard as Top LMS

According to a new report from G2 Crowd, an independent software review platform that ranks products based on user reviews and publicly available vendor data, the Blackboard learning management system (LMS) scored the highest in both customer satisfaction and market presence. 

The G2 Crowd Grid for LMS Software ranks eight LMS tools using G2 Crowd's software review platform. While G2 Crowd tracks more than 50 LMS software vendors, only those products with 10 or more reviews were included in the Grid. The summer 2015 report is based on more than 280 reviews from educators and administrators. G2 Crowd categorizes products as Leaders, High Performers, Contenders or Niche based on customer satisfaction ratings as reported by users. Market presence ratings are based on publicly available vendor data and social data.

According to the Summer 2015 G2 Crowd Grid for LMS Software, the only product in the Leaders category was Blackboard, which scored high in both customer satisfaction and market presence. 

Canvas, Edmodo, Schoology, Sakai and Moodle all placed in the High Performers category, with high customer satisfaction and lower market presence. McGraw-Hill Connect placed in the Contenders category, with lower customer satisfaction and higher market presence. Skyward Student Suite placed in the Niche category, with lower customer satisfaction and market presence.

According to a news release from G2 Crowd, "Across all LMS platforms, reviewers reported the product they use meets their requirements at an average rate of 81 percent, and on average reviewers said they were 75 percent likely to recommend the product they use." 

The full report can be purchased from G2 Crowd for $599. According to the company, it includes original data for filtering and weighting, individual profiles of each platform and detailed company information, user satisfaction ratings, feature scores and customer metrics.
