Device Enhances Satellite Internet Connections

The latest in their line of Internet-via-satellite enhancement products, Helius’ Optimized Gateway is an IP-compliant device that is designed to improve interactive Internet services like browsing, file transfer protocol (FTP), virtual private network (VPN) links, e-mail and other bi-directional services. The device can be used with any IP-compliant satellite gateway to improve performance and reduce satellite bandwidth costs.

Able to be managed on a local network, the Optimized Gateway is of use to both service providers and customers. Unlike similar solutions, this one d'es not impose proprietary protocols, and it is able to perform necessary services such as VPN, Internet protocol security (IPsec), source route address filtering, network address translation (NAT) and others. It supports all these protocols and complies with all IP requirements for routers and Internet devices.

Helius has also announced that it has joined the Lineo Partner Connect program as a certified Embedix Partner. Through the program, Helius will develop satellite routers based on embedded Linux. Helius, Inc., Orem, UT, (801) 764-9020, www.helius.com.
